With the Grace of Allah (swt) and the guidance and efforts of the Ulema involved, the Self Building project started in January 2009 as a weekly book discussion. The weekly discussion of the book Self Building An Islamic guide for Spiritual Migration towards God by Ayatullah Ibrahim Amini was followed by the discussion of the book Forty Hadith by Imam Khomeini.

After the conclusion of the study of Forty Hadith, the format was changed to a discussion of a topic rather than a book. Currently one topic is discussed with an alim on a monthly basis. Past topics include Martyrdom and Sacrifice, Leadership, and Family Role in Islam.
