Prophet (PBUH) has said "Who so ever hears the call of other brothers
calling for help and does not respond to that is not a Muslim"
Today our Muslim community in Pakistan is suffering due to a natural disaster.
One fourth of the entire nation is under water. Thousands of the villages have
been literally wiped from the map after the flood. According to the UN survey it
is now considered the worst disaster of the past two centuries. Millions of the
people have been rendered homeless. Children are starving due to lack of food
and disease is rampant due to lack of clean water. The call of "Ya lal
Muslimeen" can be heard from the every part of the country.
We as the followers of Ahlulbayt (as) have a great responsibility to help our
brothers and sisters in that part of the world. During this blessed and holy
month let us join hands and combine our efforts to help those affected. To
enhance our efforts representatives of various national organizations of North America
(including Imamia Medics International - IMI, Muslim Congress, and Canadian Shia
Muslims Organization-CASMO) have formed a flood relief committee: North American
Flood Relief Committee (NAFRC). This committee will facilitate all fundraising
efforts and other forms of aid from North America for disbursement in the
devastated areas.
August 21, 2010, Saturday has been designated as National Day of
Fundraising for Flood Victims in Pakistan. Community centers are encouraged to
conduct fundraising events and iftaars this day. We hope you understand that
this catastrophe is beyond any one organization and we urge you to support this
cause as an Islamic duty. May Allah (swt) reward you amply for your cooperation.
