Justice360° - Legal Bulletin: Supporting Palestine

"It is they who say, 'Give nothing to those who are around the Messenger of God so that they will desert him.' To God belongs the treasures of the heavens and the earth, but the hypocrites have no understanding." (63:7).

Americans of all ethnic, religious and political persuasions are increasingly challenging the United States' immoral diplomatic and military aid to the Zionist State. This has led to an increase in repressive tactics against activists. Recently 23 US citizens were issued subpoenas to appear before a federal grand jury because of their efforts to organize educational meetings in the Occupied Territories.

As the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, university groups, Quds Day programs & other similar efforts gain momentum within the United States, the legal challenges facing justice loving individuals, including the Muslim community, will likely increase. Such challenges should increase our resolve to find legal channels to support oppressed people and must not slow our resolve.

With the Holy Month of Ramadhan upon us, believers are more inclined to open their hearts and wallets to support worthy causes. In the past decade, high profile cases (i.e. Sami al-Arian; Holy Land Foundation) combined with a lack of education has led to a decrease in support for oppressed Muslims abroad. Currently there are many legitimate organizations within the United States which one can donate to in order to support the oppressed innocent civilians of Palestine. Please review prior Justice360° Legal Bulletins on Material Support for Terrorism and Charitable Giving for more information.
